The most common requirement for this is when opening a bank account.
What should you take?
- A current Driver’s licence
+
A current Medicare Card or Credit / Debit Card
This was the information from one bank accounts website, and that is exactly what I took today, when I opened an account at a new local bank.
- Birth certificate (70 points)
- Drivers licence (70 points)
- Electricity, gas or water bill (30 points)
- Medicare Card (30 points)
Other websites quote the following:
A Drivers licence is worth 40 points
A Passport, even if expired in the last 2 years is worth 70 points
A Credit Card, and a foreign Drivers Licence and a Medicare Card and an EFTPOS Card are each worth 25 points.
A Telephone bill in your name, or a Water, Gas or Electricity bill are all worth 25 points.
A Council rates notice is worth 35 points.
NAB was pretty simple though:
Drivers licence 70 points + Medicare Card 30 points = Bank account
