2009 Daylight Saving Referendum Western Australia

The question was:

Are you in favour of daylight saving being introduced in Western Australia by standard time in the State being advanced one hour from the last Sunday in October 2009 until the last Sunday in March 2010 and in similar fashion for each following year?

The result was:

  • 519,899 in Favour of Daylight saving
  • 624,304 Against Daylight saving

Daylight Saving was therefore Rejected.

Only FOUR districts had more than 50% in favour of keeping Daylight saving, these were:

  • 50.68% Joondalup
  • 50.90% Kingsley
  • 51.24% Hillarys
  • 54.77% Ocean Reef

The vote in favour of keeping Daylight saving in Western Australia, varied between 54.77% in Ocean Reef and 13.19% in Wagin.
