An ALDI special at $149 for an Upright Freezer, on August 4th 2011
The specifications of this Freezer are quoted as:
- 81L gross capacity (80L net)
- 4 easy slide transparent drawers
- Reversible door with magnetic seal
- Dimensions: 54.6(D) x 49.4(W) x 84.5cm(H)
The energy rating is just 2 stars with a quoted annual power usage of 240kWhs.
I considered this an an option for myself, as an extra small freezer in the kitchen could be handy. The price is good, at only $149, but the power consumption concerned me.
I did compare to a chest freezer from www.appliancesonline.com.au where the consumption is 280kWh for a 150L model.
However, Upright Freezers seem to use more power than Chest Freezers, as www.appliancesonline.com.au also have an 81L upright freezer with a 260kWh power consumption, but at a price of $248.
My local ALDI had 2 of these freezers left when I was there at 9am, it is now 11:45, I wonder if I am too late….
