Australian Unemployment Rate August 2011

4.85% Unemployment rate for Australian Full Time Male employment seekers in August 2011.

The seasonally adjusted Australian unemployment rate of 5.28% (a monthly increase of 0.15%) for August 2011, as announced by the Australian Bureau of Statistics is the rate for ALL workers, Full Time and Part Time, Male and Female.
Male Full Time workers had a seasonally adjusted rate of 5.05% while Female Full Time workers had a seasonally adjusted rate of 6.04%.

Unemployment rates released in September 2011 from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, show a change in nationwide unemployment over the last 20 years, for the month of August in each year as:

There are three sets of Unemployment rate figures available from the ABS; the Original, the Trend, and the Seasonally adjusted Trend.

The above figures are the original count, as I use them for State comparisons, which are the ones produced in the ABS report: 6202.0 Labour Force, Table 12.

These three types of unemployment rates for Australian Full Time Male employment seekers in August 2011 are:

  • 4.80% Trend (Table 01. Labour force status by Sex – Trend)
  • 4.85% Original (Table 12. Labour force status by Sex – States and Territories)
  • 5.05% Seasonally adjusted (Table 02. Labour force status by Sex – Seasonally adjusted)
