Childcare Rebate to be Income Tested ?

Compare, Select & Save on private health cover with iSelectCurrently the Centrelink Child Care Rebate pays up to 50% of any out of pocket expenses per child, per year, up to an annual figure of $7,941 per child (2010-11), and it is NOT income tested.

There are discussions about setting a means test, with some people saying that anyone with a family income of over $200,000 per year should not receive this benefit.

My view is that anyone with a really healthy income would not NEED such an EXTRA welfare payment.  However, some people may think that $200,000 per year is not a lot, but with that figure being 3 times our family income, but still being able to afford private school, I could only dream about having financial difficulties on $200,000 :)

Assuming a threshold was based on a $200,000 per year family income, I wonder how many people would think the same way ?
