Those with a Dial up connection dropped from 12.8% to 8.3% between June 2009 and June 2010.
In June 2009, 28.3% had an Internet connection with speeds less than 512kbps. By June 2010 this had reduced to 13.7%. By June 2011, at that same rate of change, there may be hardy any at such a low speed.
The percentage of those with a Broadband connection increased from 86.9% to 91.6% in the same 12 months period.
In June 2010, 33.8% of all users now get speeds of 8Mbps or more, compared to 26.6% a year before. 70.9% receive speeds of over 1.5Mbps compared to 56.7% a year earlier.
The quoted numbers of Internet connections for each speed range, as at June 2010, were:
- 8.4% Less than 256kbps
- 5.3% 256kbps to less than 512kbps
- 15.4% 512kbps to less than 1.5Mbps
- 37.1% 1.5Mbps to less than 8Mbps
- 27.2% 8Mbps to less than 24Mbps
- 6.6% 24Mbps or greater
