The Federal Government gives a 30% Rebate on most private health insurance premiums in Australia.
This rebate is normally deducted from the premiums before it is paid, but in cases where the full premium is paid, the rebate can be claimed in the annual tax return.
Any quotations that you receive will often be quoted AFTER the rebate is deducted.
The policy must be a “Complying Health Insurance Policy with a registered health fund” to be eligible for the 30% reduction.
Insurance specifically designed for “Overseas visitor health cover” is not eligible for the Rebate.
