Solar Power Rebates

Compare, Select & Save on private health cover with iSelectThe Solar Credits Program came into effect on 10th June 2009 as a federal grant for Solar Panel installations in Australian households.

The normal maximum benefit, for applications up to June 2011, is $6,000 for a 1.5kw system in zone 3.

This is based on the RECs value of the system multiplied by 5, then multiplied by the $ value of each REC.

  • From 1 July 2011 this drops down to a 4 x multiplier, meaning that the current $6,000 rebate will then only be worth $4,800
  • From 1 July 2012 this drops down to a 3 x multiplier, meaning that the current $6,000 rebate will then only be worth $3,600
  • From 1 July 2013 this drops down to a 2 x multiplier, meaning that the current $6,000 rebate will then only be worth $2,400
  • From 1 July 2014 this drops down to a single multiplier, meaning that the current $6,000 rebate will then only be worth $1,200

Any system designed to generate capacity above 1.5 kW will still be eligible for the 1:1 rate of RECs values on the amount above 1.5 kW.
