The current (from July 2010) cost of water in the Sydney water region is $2.012 per kL.
The cost from July 2011, may be a smaller increase than before, although the actual wording on the “Winter 2011 Waterwrap” notification leaves some doubt in my mind.
The price increase this year is lower than the last three years
Now, does that mean that this years increase is less than the total increases over the last three years ?
I can’t help but wonder why the notice did not actually spell out the exact water price from July 2011…
In 2008, IPART determined Sydney Water’s prices for 2008/09 to 2011/12.
The figures released at the time, in 2008/09 $ were:
- From July 2009 $1.80 per kL
- From July 2010 $1.90 per kL
- From July 2011 $1.93 per kL
These rates had to be adjusted for inflation, and the 2010 rate of $1.90 became $2.012.
I will guess that the rate from July 2011 will be about $2.07 per kL
I will also guess that the Water Service charge will increase to about $35 per quarter.
