4.81% Unemployment rate for NSW Full Time Male employment seekers in August 2011.

Unemployment rates released in September 2011 from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show a change in Unemployment over the last 20 years, for the month of August in each year as:

9.60% Aug-1991
11.63% Aug-1992
11.62% Aug-1993
9.50% Aug-1994
7.98% Aug-1995
8.34% Aug-1996
7.87% Aug-1997
7.43% Aug-1998
6.02% Aug-1999
5.42% Aug-2000
5.77% Aug-2001
5.22% Aug-2002
4.97% Aug-2003
4.77% Aug-2004
4.79% Aug-2005
4.85% Aug-2006
3.56% Aug-2007
4.46% Aug-2008
5.39% Aug-2009
4.12% Aug-2010
4.81% Aug-2011

The time effect of this can be seen in the following graph:

In the long term, the current figures are not too bad, as the graph shows that the figures for New South Wales are still relatively low, in comparison to the previous 20 years.

One example is the average for the five years 2002 to 2006, which was 4.92%, slightly higher than todays 4.81%.

If we look at the first 10 years of the above, we see that the average was 8.54%.  That average makes our current figures positively glowing, although not as good as the 2007 low point of 3.56% Unemployment.
