07 3073 4249 Australian Accident Helpline – Scam

Car Crash Scam Helpline – Scam.

I just had my first call from one of these Car Accident Scams, from a local number to me.

It was from 07 3073 4249, and they said it was the Australian Accident Helpline.

The person that rang me had an Indian accent, and was saying I had been involved in an accident, but saying I might not have been at fault, and they might be able to help.

I enthusiastically agreed that it wasn’t my fault…….. followed up with: “as I don’t drive a car“.

A couple of seconds silence followed by a comment that it might have been a passenger..

When I asked what the car was, they hung up on me.

But they might have heard my wife call out, “it was the dog driving“, and they might have realised that we knew it was a scam of some sort.

The WA Government believes this is a phishing scam with the potential for identity theft if the target provides the requested information. They also feel that those people, who give out their personal details, will be added to lists that can be sold to other scammers who are looking for people to target and defraud.
