Almost 1,200 foreign-born criminals were deported from Australia in 2017.
Nearly 1,200 criminals holding Australian Visa’s were deported from Australia in 2017 on character grounds.
Peter Dutton the Minister for Home Affairs said:
“I think by kicking these people out we’re sending a very strong statement.”
“I think Australians expect people to abide by the law and they must – especially if you’re a guest in our country.”
430 of the visa holders that were cancelled were from NSW, with Queensland having another 300 and further 217 from Victoria.
Offences causing the deportations included Murderer, child sex offences and rape.
