In 2014, LNP proposed a $7 co-payment for visits to their GP, with $5 used to fund a $20 billion medical research future fund.
There was however, room to move in ‘refining’ this GP co-payment, with the Federal Government considering exempting the elderly.
Tony Abbott then announced the $7 co-payment plan was being dumped, due to insufficient party support for the proposal.
