2022-23 Budget Skilled Visa Allocation.
The second 2022-23 Australian Budget, released on 25 October 2022 by the Labor government, shows that the number of available skilled visas will increase by 62,800 extra places from 79,600 to 142,400. These visas include employed sponsored, skilled independent, regional, and state or territory nominated visas.
Priority for skilled visas will be given to people living overseas, and to New Zealanders who have lived in Australia for many years.
The 142,400 visa allocation.
- 35,000 Employer Sponsored.
- 32,100 Skilled Independent.
- 34,000 Regional.
- 31,000 State and Territory Nominated.
- 5,000 Business Innovation and Investment.
- 5,000 Global Talent.
- 300 Distinguished Talent.
This new budget shows an increase of:
- 5,000 Employer-Sponsored.
- 15,448 Skilled Independent.
- 9,000 Regional.
- 11,000 State & Territory Nominated.
- 4,500 Business Innovation and Investment.
- Reduction of 3,448 Global Talent.
- No change. Distinguished Talent.
The allocation in the first 2022-23 Budget, released in March 2022 was:
- 30,000 Employer-Sponsored.
- 16,652 Skilled Independent.
- 25,000 Regional.
- 20,000 State & Territory Nominated.
- 9,500 Business Innovation and Investment.
- 8,448 Global Talent.
- 300 Distinguished Talent.
