Top 10 Overseas born Nationalities in Australia, in 2020.

In 2020, the largest group of nationalities of the overseas born population of Australia continued to be led by the English, with 980,360 English born residents of Australia. That was 3.8% of the population.

Indian nationals were in second place with 721,050 Australian residents, followed by the Chinese, with 650,640.

This table shows the top 10 overseas born nationalities in Australia, at 30 June for each of the years shown.

In June 2008, the largest group of overseas born residents of Australia was the United Kingdom with 1.2 million, followed by those from New Zealand (495,000 people), China (314,000), India (239,000) and Italy (222,000).

The 2020 figures have separated the United Kingdom into their individual countries, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
