Parent Visa (subclass 103).
The Parent Visa (subclass 103) lets parents of a settled Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia permanently.
There can be long waiting times of up to 30 years for this visa, as there is a high demand for permanent family visas but only a limited number of places available each financial year.
Applications are processed in the order in which they are lodged. When the limit is reached, no more visas are granted in the financial year.
In the 2017 – 2018 Migration Programme year, only 1,500 Parent (non-contributory) visa places were available.
As at January 2022 the cost of the Subclass 173 Contributory Parent Visa is from $6,490
Applicants must meet health and character requirements.
Sponsors must be able to obtain an Assurance of Support.
