Queensland Speeding Fines from 1 July 2022.
The fine for speeding in Queensland varies depending on how much the driver has exceeded the speed limit by.
These are the penalties for the excess speed ranges.
Speed range over the limit:
- 1-10kph over: $287 fine and 1 demerit point.
- 11-20kph over: $431 fine and 3 demerit points.
- 21-30kph over: $646 fine and 4 demerit points.
- 31-40kph over: $1,078 fine and 6 demerit points.
- 41kph and over: $1,653 fine, 8 demerit points and 6 month licence suspension.
Second Speeding Offence in 12 months.
If a second Offence is committed within 12 months of the first, the Demerit points are doubled.
Double Demerit Point Penalties.
- 21-30kph over: $646 fine and 8 demerit points.
- 31-40kph over: $1,078 fine and 12 demerit points.
- 41kph and over: $1,653 fine, 16 demerit points and 6 month licence suspension.
