Can International Students get Permanent Residency in Australia.
Even though International students in Australia have to confirm that they have no intention to remain in Australia after their courses finish, about 16 per cent of the students go on to become permanent residents (PR) in Australia.
Currently 16 out of every 100 students manage to gain a PR visa, while 84 out of every 100 will return home.
All applicants for a Student visa must show they are coming to Australia temporarily to gain a quality education. This involves showing that you have significant incentives to return home.
The Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement is not intended to exclude students who, after studying in Australia, develop skills Australia needs and who then go on to apply for permanent residence.
Gaining such a skill permits the student to apply for further visas, where that skill is required in Australia, at the time that the student finishes their course.
