Australians need a visa for the UK.
From 8 January 2025, Australians will be required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), to be allowed to enter, or transit through, the United Kingdom.
This change from visa-free travel will cost about $20, or £10, and can be applied for online.
An ETA allows Australians multiple visits to the UK for up to 6 months at a time, over a period of two years or until the holder’s passport expires, whichever is sooner.
An ETA would usually be processed within three working days, but it could take longer.
