Should you add new Relationship Proofs while waiting for a Partner Visa?
Some people advise adding more relationship proofs during the processing time for a partner visa application, but is it really worth it?
It is said that the Immigration department are not advised of these subsequent updates as you do them, unless they are in response to a Request for Further Information [RFI], and you click on the button marked “I have uploaded.. etc.”
However, we never know when an immigration office might look at an individual case. Consider this scenario…
It is now December.
Applicant 1:
This applicant uploads everything at the beginning of the application, in January this year, 11 months ago, and then waits and does nothing more.
Applicant 2:
This applicant uploads everything at the beginning of the application, also in January this year, and every month uploads some more relationship proofs.
Now, assume you are the Immigration officer.
You are authorised to grant one new partner visa today
- You look at Applicant 1 and think, well they were together in January, almost a year ago..
- You look at Applicant 2 and think, well they were together in January, and constantly together since they applied 11 months ago.
If you have to make a decision and grant one immediately, which would you grant? Applicant 1 or Applicant 2.
It may not be as simple as that in most cases, but it is something to think about.
We uploaded regular information for our 820 application. We felt that our visa timelines were pretty reasonable.
