15% Pay Rise for Australian aged care workers.
Australia’s aged care workers have won a 15% pay rise, after the Fair Work Commission accepted that this sector’s employees were underpaid.
This pay rise is for direct care workers in aged care. These include nurses, Assistant’s in Nursing (AIN’s), personal care workers and home care workers.
Those aged care workers that handle the administration, lifestyle, laundry and catering positions are NOT included in this pay rise.
The Fair Work Commission delivered the decision late Friday 4th November 2022, saying it will be phased in over a yet to be determined period.
It is expected to affect up to about 180,000 direct carers’ minimum wages.
