  2. As previously mentioned, quarantine costs are not just for overseas arrivals.

Another state, Western Australia, is now requiring travellers from Victoria to go into hotel quarantine at their own expense for 14 days.

With increased restrictions on arrivals from New South Wales, there is the possibility that quarantine costs could be imposed on arrivals from other states.

  4. From midday today, Tuesday 14th July 2020, anybody entering Queensland who has been to Victoria, or some parts of New South Wales, (COVID-19 hotspots), in the last 14 days must enter compulsory hotel quarantine at their own expense.

$4,000 fines are being given to people attempting to contrave these restrictions.

The entire state of Victoria is a declared COVID-19 hotspot.
The NSW local government areas of Liverpool and Campbelltown are also declared COVID-19 hotspots.

  6. Hotel Quarantine can be extended to 24 days for those people who choose not to be tested for COVID-19, before leaving after 14 days.

The extra days quarantine for those people, will be charged for as an extra charge to the normal 14 day cost.

The wording on the QLD government site is:

“By getting tested before leaving quarantine you are helping us stop the spread of COVID-19 and protecting Queenslanders from the virus. We respect your right to refuse, however, you will be required to quarantine for a further 10 days until there is greater certainty that you do not have the virus. You will need to pay for costs of an extended quarantine period.”
