The World Health Organisation say that 95% of deaths in Europe are for the over 60 age group, and 50% are over 80.

One death was an Australian national, the 78-year-old James Kwan, who died in Perth, Australia, after being evacuated from Japan.

Deaths at Dorothy Henderson Lodge aged care facility.

  1. 4 March 2020. A 95-year-old woman becomes Australia’s second death related to coronavirus. She lived in the Dorothy Henderson nursing home.
  2. 8 March 2020.An 82 year old male resident of Dorothy Henderson Lodge, (hospitalised on 1 March), died overnight from COVID-19.
  3. 15 March 2020. A 90 year old Sydney woman, the third from the Dorothy Henderson Lodge aged care home in Sydney’s north, died on Sunday.
  4. 28 March 2020. A 91 year old female, from the Dorothy Henderson Lodge aged care home in Sydney, has died.
  5. 1 April 2020. A 95 year old female became the 5th resident at the Dorothy Henderson aged care facility, in Sydney, to die from COVID-19.
  6. 6 April 2020. A 90 year old male resident of the Dorothy Henderson Lodge in Macquarie Park, NSW has died from COVID-19, the 6th from this aged care facility.

Deaths at the Newmarch aged-care facility in Western Sydney.

At 25th April this aged care facility had recorded 48 cases of the virus.  31 residents and 17 staff members. At 3rd May, this has risen to 63 cases of the virus.  37 residents and 26 staff members.

  1. 18 April 2020. A 93 yr old male resident at the Newmarch aged-care facility in Western Sydney has died with COVID-19.
  2. 19 April 2020. A 94 yr old male resident at the Newmarch aged-care facility in Western Sydney has died with COVID-19.
  3. 21 April 2020. A 92 yr old female resident at the Newmarch aged-care facility in Western Sydney has died with COVID-19.
  4. 23 April 2020. A 79 yr old female resident at the Newmarch aged-care facility in Western Sydney has died.
  5. 24 April 2020. A 96 yr old female, with multiple health issues,  died in the Newmarch age care home, NSW.
  6. 25 April 2020. An 83 yr old male resident at Newmarch House aged care home in NSW has died.
  7. 28 April 2020. An 89 yr old female resident at Newmarch House aged care home in NSW has died.
  8. 28 April 2020. Another resident at Newmarch House aged care home in NSW has died making 8.
  9. 28 April 2020. Another resident at Newmarch House aged care home in NSW has died making 9.
  10. 28 April 2020. Another resident at Newmarch House aged care home in NSW has died, making 10.

  15. 4 May 2020. A Male resident is the 15th to die at the Newmarch House aged care home.
  16. 5 May 2020. An unnamed resident at the Newmarch House aged care home, is their 16th Covid-19 fatality
  17. 9 May 2020. A 92 yr old Female resident at the Newmarch House aged care home, is their 17th Covid-19 fatality.  This death has not been included in the official COVID deaths as she was reported as having recovered prior to her death. However, it is stated that COVID-19 weakened her enough for her condition to result in her early death.
  18. 19 May 2020. A 93 yr old female resident at the Newmarch aged-care facility in Western Sydney has died.

Deaths at the Opal Care facility in Bankstown, NSW.

  1. 6 April 2020. An 86 year old man died from COVID-19 at the Opal Care Bankstown, New South Wales.
  2. 7 April 2020. A 90-year-old male resident of the Opal Care nursing home in Bankstown died in Liverpool Hospital, NSW
  3. 27 April 2020.  An 85 yr old male in the Opal Care home was reclassified as a Covid-19 death on 25 June 2020.

As at Wednesday 27th May 2020, there had been 103 reported deaths in Australia from the COVID-19 coronavirus, but this included a death where COVID-19 was not actually involved:

    • A 30 year old male from Blackwater, West of Rockhampton, Central Queensland died at home after being ill for several weeks. The body of Nathan Turner was immediately tested and found to have COVID-19. He was not tested for Covid-19 before his death, and a second test, during postmortem, came back negative. It remains unclear if Covid-19 was the actual cause of death. He is the 2nd miner in Blackwater to have been tested positive, but then negative a few days later.
