Australian Temporary Graduate visa – subclass 485.

This visa is for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution.

It lets you work in Australia temporarily after you have finished your studies.

You must be in Australia when you apply, and at time of grant.

The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) lets you live, study and work in Australia temporarily after you have finished your Australian studies.

Students are only able to access the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) once as a primary applicant.

This visa has two streams:

Graduate Work stream

• You must have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list.
• You can bring your family with you.
• This visa is normally valid for 18 months from the date of grant.
• The cost for this visa is A$1,650 for the primary visa applicant, at January 2020.

Post-Study Work stream

• You can bring your family with you.
• You need a recent degree in a CRICOS-registered course.
• This visa is normally valid for 2 or 4 years, from the date of grant, depending on the visa applicant’s qualification.
• The cost for this visa is A$1,650 for the primary visa applicant, at January 2020.

The current processing times for the 485 Visa are:

• In December 2019, 75% of the Graduate Work stream took under 90 days to process, but 10% took over 4 months.
• In December 2019, 75% of the Post-Study Work stream took under 84 days to process, but 10% took over 3 months.
