Traffic Light Rules in Australia.
Red means Stop.
Green means Go.
That’s the simple bit. We all know that. But..
What about Amber, that yellow light in the middle.
No.. It does not mean Speed up!
It’s actually simple too, but many people don’t know the FULL law on this.
Amber/Yellow means Stop.
There is a caveat, that allows us to go through on Amber. The words are “unless it is unsafe to stop”.
Penalties apply for drivers who fail to stop at a yellow light, unless it is unsafe to do so.
This penalty is the same as a red light penalty in some states, and that could be around $500.
