Appeals to Administrative Appeals Tribunal in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
At the end of August 2019 there were 72,303 appeals in the pipeline at the Australian Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).
Most of these were for Visas, with refugees having 22,286 cases and general migration having 40,190 cases.
The Median time to finalise Migration and Refugee visas was in the region of 76 weeks; (73 weeks for Migration appeals and 125 weeks for Refugee appeals). Only about 27% were finalised within 12 months..
Using the figures from previous years, we can see that August figures show a further increase, from the end of June 2019.

- Refugee Appeals in the pipeline have risen from 20,689 to 22,286, an increase of 1,597 in two months.
