Australian Breast Screen Programs.

BreastScreen Australia is targeted specifically at women without symptoms aged 50-69, although women aged 40-49 and 70 years and older are able to attend for screening.

It operates in over 500 locations nationwide, and in 2004-2005 a total of 1,614,871 women were screened across Australia, 74% being in the 50-69 age group.

BreastScreen ACT & SE NSW
Women aged between 40-49 years are eligible to have a screening mammogram with BreastScreen.
Screening mammography is recommended for women aged 50-69 years, and sends routine reminder letters to this age group.
Women over 70 years are eligible for free screening but are not sent reminder letters by the Program.

BreastScreen Northern Territory
BreastscreenNT offers free breast screening to women aged 50 – 69 without breast symptoms, in Darwin and several regional locations throughout the Northern Territory.

BreastScreen Queensland
The Queensland Health BreastScreen Program offers free breast cancer screening and follow-up assessment services for women aged 50 to 69 years.
Women aged 40 to 49 years and 70 years and older can also attend if they choose.

BreastScreen South Australia
BreastScreen SA provides free screening mammograms at two-yearly intervals, primarily for women aged 50 to 69. Women aged 40 to 49 or aged 70 and over are also eligible to use the service.

BreastScreen Tasmania
BreastScreen is government funded to provide free screening mammograms every two years for women aged 50-69. All women over the age of 40 are eligible to attend.

BreastScreen Victoria
Women aged 50 to 69 are invited to have free screening mammograms every two years. Women aged 40 to 49 or aged 70 and over are also eligible to use the service.

BreastScreen Western Australia
Women aged 40 years or over are eligible to have a FREE screening mammogram at BreastScreen WA every two years.
