The number of COVID Hospitalisations has risen dramatically from 2020 to 2022.
This chart, taken from COVID live data, shows the peak hospitalisation dates for each year, 2020, 2021 and 2022 up to 21 July 2022.
This shows how bad the situation is in mid 2022, compared to the previous years.
The highest number of COVID related hospitalisations each year have been:
- 2020: 694 on 19 August 2020.
- 2021: 1,551 on 28 Sept 2021.
- 2022: 5,360 on 21 July 2022, so far in 2022.
The numbers in ICU are lower in 2022, than the higher numbers in 2021, even though total hospitalisation was less in 2021.

- 2020: 7.5% on 19 August 2020.
- 2021: 19.1% on 28 Sept 2021.
- 2022: 3.0% on 21 July 2022.
