How many with English Ancestry live in Australia?
Although many English people came to Australia in the early days of colonisation, the number of people in Australia with English ancestry is reducing, with it now standing at 33%.
In the 2021 census 33% of the Australian population, stated that they had some English ancestry.
In the 2001 census 37% of the Australian population, stated that they had some English ancestry.
In the 1986 census 46% of the Australian population, stated that they had some English ancestry.
The numbers for English ancestry would not include those with Scottish or Welsh ancestry.
