The survey results for the 2009, perceived feelings of safety in Australia, were published on 18th February 2010 by the ABS.
Some of the results are:
At Home Alone during the day:
- 83% of persons felt safe or very safe when at home alone during the day.
- 2.50% of persons felt unsafe or very unsafe when at home alone during the day
The proportion of persons feeling safe or very safe during the day ranged from 76.7% in Northern Territory to 87.5% in the Australian Capital Territory.
At Home Alone during the night:
- 69.5% of persons felt safe or very safe when at home alone after dark.
- 4.3% of persons felt unsafe or very unsafe when at home alone after dark.
The proportion of persons feeling safe or very safe after dark ranged from 62.5% in the Northern Territory to 75.3% in Tasmania.
