The number of Filipinos living in Australia has been increasing at rates between 11.8% and 42% every 5 years since 1991, but has seen a massive increase from the 1947 figure.

The following shows the numbers of Philippines-born people in Australia at various census dates.

    • The 1947 Census recorded 141 Philippines-born people in Australia.
    • The 1991 Census recorded 73,007.
    • The 1996 Census recorded 92,949. Up 27.32% from the previous census.
    • The 2001 Census recorded 103,942. Up 11.83% from the previous census.
    • The 2006 Census recorded 120,538. Up 15.97% from the previous census.
    • The 2011 Census recorded 171,233. Up 42.06% from the previous census.
    • The 2016 Census recorded 232,391. Up 35.72% from the previous census.

Filipino, or Pilipino, is the term used for the people of the Philippines. Pinoy is another word meaning the same. The terms Filipina, or Pinay, are also used to specify a Female Filipino, although Filipino is normally used to cover both genders.

Filipino is also one of the two national languages of the Philippines, along with English.
