A 51-year-old woman entered Queensland from Victoria and declared that she was travelling from Victoria for essential work purposes.
The Queensland Police Service consistently reviews Queensland Border Declarations to ensure accurate and reliable information has been provided.
Officers from Taskforce Sierra Linnet reviewed her Queensland Border Declaration, and attended her given address in Gympie this morning at 11am and spoke with the woman. Further investigations revealed that her purpose of travel was untrue.
The woman was issued a Notice to Appear at Gympie Magistrates Court on November 30, for Fail to Comply with COVID-19 Border Direction – CHO Untrue Info s. 362D).
The maximum penalty is 100 penalty units ($13,345) or six months behind bars.
The woman was transported into hotel quarantine where she remains.
