Is the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia a New Zealand Citizen

Is Deputy Prime Minister, Barnaby Joyce, a New Zealand Citizen?.

Barnaby Joyce was born on 17 April 1967, Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia.
His father, James Joyce, was a British Subject born 1927 in New Zealand, and moved to Australia in 1947 as a British Subject, not a New Zealand citizen.
His mother Marie, came from a New South Wales family.

When New Zealand created the status of a New Zealand Citizen on 6 September 1948, it appears that Barnaby Joyce’s father became a New Zealand Citizen even though now living in Australia.

Barnaby Joyce is the Leader of the National Party of Australia, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia.

The New Zealand Citizenship Rules:.

The British Nationality and New Zealand Citizenship Act 1948 gave New Zealand citizenship to all current residents who had been either born British subjects or later naturalised (granted citizenship). Until this Act came into force, people born in New Zealand were British subjects but not New Zealand citizens.
Almost all children subsequently born in New Zealand would become citizens.
The 1948 act has been replaced by the Citizenship Act 1977.

Australian Citizenship Rules:.

Australian citizenship was created through the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948, (this came into effect 26 January 1949) and at this time an Australian citizen was also considered a British subject. Prior to 1949, Australians could only hold the status of British subjects.
The Australian Citizenship Amendment Act 1984 repealed the status of British subject in order for the Act to reflect the national identity of all Australians. The English language requirement was also reduced from ‘adequate’ to basic.
