Family and Partner Visa Processing Priority.
Partner visa applications are NOT processed purely in the date order that they were applied in.
For example:
Partner Visa applications, where the sponsor or proposed sponsor entered Australia as an illegal maritime arrival (IMA) and is currently the holder of a permanent visa, are placed LAST in order of priority, irrespective of other priorities.
Immigration currently state the following:
Family visa processing priorities.
We process family migration applications in processing priority order regardless of when an application is lodged and in line with the government’s policy priorities.
The current processing priorities (with highest priority first) are:
- Family migration applications that have been subject to ministerial intervention.
- Applications by a partner or a dependent child.
- Applications by an orphan relative.
- Applications by a contributory parent or a contributory aged parent.
- Applications by a carer.
- Applications by a parent, aged parent, remaining relative or aged dependant relative.
- Applications where the sponsor or proposed sponsor entered Australia as an illegal maritime arrival (IMA) and is the holder of a permanent visa
