How Many Points are Needed for a Skilled Visa in Australia.
Until June 2018, Skillselect visa applicants needed a minimum of 60 points for their visa to be granted.
On July 1st 2018, this minimum was increased to 65. However, many applicants need more than this, depending on the occupation, with some needing at least 80 points.
The changes to the subclass 189 and 149 were:
70 points for Skilled – Independent (subclass 189) from 30/05/2018
80 points for Skilled – Regional Provisional (subclass 489) from 24/06/2018
Some examples of the Minimum Points required are:
Accountants need a minimum of 80 points
Auditors, Company Secretaries and Corporate Treasurers need a minimum of 80 points
Electronics Engineer need a minimum of 75 points
Industrial, Mechanical and Production Engineers need a minimum of 70 points
Other Engineering Professionals need a minimum of 75 points
ICT Business and System Analysts need a minimum of 75 points
Software and Applications Programmers need a minimum of 75 points
Computer Network Professionals need a minimum of 70 points

834 invitations for those with 70 points
1,094 invitations for those with 75 points
453 invitations for those with 80 points
107 invitations for those with 85 points
2 invitations for those with 90 points
