Educational qualifications

    • 20 points for a Doctorate from an Australian educational institution or a Doctorate from another educational institution, that is of a recognised standard.
    • 15 points for at least a Bachelor degree from an Australian educational institution or at least a Bachelor qualification, from another educational institution, that is of a recognised standard.
    • 10 points for a diploma or trade qualification from an Australian educational institution.
    • 10 points for having attained a qualification or award recognised by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation as being suitable for that occupation.

Extra Points

    • 5 points extra for a Masters degree by research or a Doctorate degree from an Australian educational institution that included at least 2 academic years study in a relevant field.
    • 5 points extra for at least 1 degree, diploma or trade qualification from an Australian educational institution that meets the Australian study requirement.
    • 5 points extra for Completion of a Professional Year in Australia, that meets the requirements.
    • 5 points extra for a recognised qualification in a credentialled community language.

Changes to the Points system for the subclass 190 visa in 2019.

    • Extra 10 points for those who have a skilled de-facto partner or spouse
    • Extra 15 points for those who are nominated by a territory or state government or sponsored by a relative living in a regional area of Australia.
    • Extra 10 points for those who possess certain science, technology, engineering, and math qualifications.
    • Extra 10 points for those who do not have a de-facto partner or spouse.
    • Extra 5 points for those who have a de-facto partner or spouse with competent English skills.
