Road Rules for Pedestrians in Queensland.
Yes, there are rules that pedestrians must follow in Australia.
The Queensland Road Rules encourage safe interactions between all road users. If you don’t follow the road rules, you may be fined.
These rules include:
- You must not cross a road within 20m of a pedestrian crossing – you must use the crossing.
- You must wait for a safe break in traffic before crossing each section of the road.
We have all seen some pedestrians totally ignore those rules.
Some drivers feel that if Pedestrians can break the rules, then drivers can too.
Pedestrians do not have the security of a metal box surrounding them.
