Wind and solar are now the fastest growing sources of electricity, reaching a record 10% of global electricity in 2021.
Australia is number 12 in the list of Countries that had the largest share of power usage being generated by Solar and Wind methods in 2021.
Australia is also one of the top three countries that have transformed their electricity system the fastest, to Wind and Solar, since the pandemic.
These countries were listed as: the Netherlands, Australia and Viet Nam.
This was sourced from a report on the power generated by 61 countries.
These countries averaged 10.3% of global electricity in 2021. This is double the amount recorded in 2015.
The total of all clean electricity sources generated 38% of the world’s electricity in 2021.
Clean energy includes wind power, solar, hydro power, tidal and geothermal.
