Speeding Fines in ACT December 2019.
It is an offence to exceed a speed limit in Australia.
Speeding is the cause of about 40% of road fatalities in Australia, and about 30% of all road accidents in Australia.
Each Australian State and Territory can impose different fines and penalties for any motoring offence, and this can include financial penalties and demerit points which can lead to loss of licence.
The following shows the basic speeding fines, for Private Motor Vehicles in the Australian Capital Territory, as at December 2019.
ACT Speeding Fines NOT in school zone:.
- exceed speed limit by ≤ 15km/h = $297 plus 1 Demerit Point
- exceed speed limit by > 15 but ≤ 30km/h = $438 plus 3 Demerit Points
- exceed speed limit by > 30 but ≤ 45km/h = $700 plus 4 Demerit Points
- exceed speed limit by > 45km/h = $1,841 plus 6 Demerit Points
ACT Speeding Fines IN School Zone:.
- exceed speed limit by ≤ 15km/h = $321 plus 1 Demerit Point
- exceed speed limit by > 15 but ≤ 30km/h = $477 plus 3 Demerit Points
- exceed speed limit by > 30 but ≤ 45km/h = $799 plus 4 Demerit Points
- exceed speed limit by > 45km/h = $2,136 plus 6 Demerit Points
