Student Visa Grants and Refusals for Indian Nationals.
There’s been an increase in incomplete applications and presentation of fraudulent information and documentation in student visa applications, especially from the Punjab and Haryana states in north India.
Due to this, the student visa grant rate for applications from India, has been dropping recently.
It was:
87.5 % in December 2022.
79.0 % in January 2023.
This means that 21 out of every 100 applications are not granted. Although the actual rate will be much lower or higher, depending on which area of India, they come from.
Some Australian Universities are now choosing to to accept direct applications from students in some areas, including the Punjab and Haryana regions.
However, this is not stopping the overall acceptance of students from India, and may actually benefit some of the other areas.
During the 8 months in the 2022/23 year to February 2023, over 71,000 student visas have been granted to Indian nationals.
This is the highest recorded number issued to any country for any recorded July to February figure.
It is however unfair to those genuine applicants in those targetted areas, who are affected by the actions of others from their area, that are using falsified documents.
