A comparison of subclass 309 offshore partner visa grants for the first quarter of the years 2019-20 and 2020-21.
About 1,700 fewer subclass 309s were granted in the first quarter of this year, (2020-21) compared to the same period last year.
3,844 were granted in July to Sept 2019-20, with 519 being refused.
2,114 were granted in July to Sept 2020-21, with 310 being refused.
According to a FoI request, about 5,000 fewer subclass 309 applications were finalised in 2019-20 than the previous year, 2018-19.
This could mean that 2020-21 started with 5,000 more applications waiting in the pipeline, than would have been without COVID.
And that number appears to have been increased by another 1,700 for the July to September quarter in this year.
