Subclass 485 subsequent entrant visa processing times 2019

Processing Times for subclass 485 subsequent entry visa in 2019.

An analysis of sixty four subclass 485 subsequent entry visa grants in 2019 has shown that the processing times, for those granted, has taken between 50 and 168 days between Application and Grant.

Some applicants made an application that included everything required, and in general they received their grants the fastest.

Others, who did not include everything with the original application, received a Request for Further Information [RFI]at some stage, normally between 39 and 92 days after application. These RFI’s were mainly for Medicals, Police checks or further Proof of Relationship.

Those that did NOT uploaded everything required, and had to supply further information, received their grant between 80 and 168 days after application.

  • 25% took between 98 and 108 days
  • 25% took between 108 and 168 days

Not submitting everything required to complete the application can delay the final grant, as can be seen by the above figures.

It is also interesting to see how long it might take Immigration to request this missing information from an applicant.  Some wait 3 months (92 days) before being asked for this.  During that time, 95% of those who have made compete applications will have already received their visa grant (all granted in 94 days).

Waiting times for Request for Further Information.

  • 25% of RFI’s were made between 39 and 63 days after application.
  • 25% of RFI’s were made between 63 and 75 days after application.
  • 25% of RFI’s were made between 75 and 81 days after application.
  • 25% of RFI’s were made between 81 and 92 days after application.

These figures do not include Applications that are still not granted, and some of these can exceed these timelines enormously.  The reasons can often be personal to the application, security checks etc., for some countries.  Anomalies on information received etc.  Some of these may never be granted, for various reasons.

Processing times can be affected by the numbers of applications being received each year, in each visa subclass.  More applications can often slow down the process, and the 485 subclass has had a massive increase in applications.  As shown below:
