As at 30th September 2020, according to Department of Home Affairs FOI requests 20/10/00222 and 20/09/01265, there were 10,581 subclass 804 Aged Parent applications in the queue.
If they grant the average of 83 per year, and refuse an average of 92 per year, (as seen in 2017-18 to 2019-20), that ‘current’ backlog will take 34 years to clear.
But the backlog will continue to increase if there remains an average of 1,350 applications per year.
