Unemployed Numbers in Australia during 2019-20
The COVID-19 coronavirus was responsible for a massive increase in unemployment, which reached over 1 million in July 2020.
The July 2020 unemployed figure was almost 300,000 higher than the 712,900 unemployed a year earlier in July 2019. An increase of 41.5%.
In October 2020 the number unemployed is still 32.3% higher than 12 months earlier in October 2019.
