Unemployment Rate – Political Leaders Knowledge.
Anthony Albanese, on 11 April 2022, said he thought that the Australian unemployment rate was 5.4 per cent.
Scott Morrison, on the same day, said it was 4%, the lowest rate over 50 years.
The latest actual figures show that the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, is more up to date with the Unemployment figures, than the opposition leader is.
The latest figures, released 17 March 2022, are:
Seasonally adjusted estimates for February 2022:
- unemployment rate fell to 4.0%, from 4.2%
- participation rate increased to 66.4%, from 66.2%
- employment increased to 13,372,000 from 13,294,600
- underemployment rate decreased to 6.6%, from 6.7%
- monthly hours worked increased by 149 million hours.
