Visa Processing Prioritising July 2022.
It has been revealed that Australia will be prioritising 60,000 permanent visa applications lodged by skilled workers based overseas, with the Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil stating: “The change is prioritising people who are offshore who are wanting to come here to work.”
The Priority is to be for skilled applicants from offshore that can fill occupations in health, education and aged care.
The Department of Home Affairs is bringing in more staff to try to reduce the visa backlog caused by the Covid restrictions. The backlog is reported to be about 960,000 applications over all visa classes.
