Stating in Australia on a Visitor Visa for over 12 months.
The maximum stay in Australia, on a visitor visa, is normally limited to 12 months in each 18 month period.
Exceptional circumstances, to allow more than 12 months out of 18 months as a visitor in Australia, are decided on a case by case basis.
Exceptional circumstances may include, but are not limited to:
- Inability to travel due to medical reasons.
- Death or serious illness within close family.
- Natural disaster in home country.
- War or civil unrest in home country.
Exceptional circumstances normally include a change, or changes, to the applicant’s circumstances that could not have been anticipated at the time the visa was granted, and that were beyond the applicant’s control.
